What are empanadas? 🥟

Empanadas are similar to American turnovers or hand pies, but originated in Latin America. These pastries are fried or baked and shaped like a crescent moon. At Galena Bakehouse, we bake them for a warm flaky and rich crust.

Alex’s History with empanadas 🥟

Alex grew up enjoying empanadas after church every weekend. (In Puerto Rico they’re called pastellios and they’re fried. Mmm!) His grandma would help the hardworking church ladies weekly, and would sometimes invite him to help fork fold when he was little.

GBH Flavors 🥟

We certainly "play" a lot with the empanada flavors! If you're lucky we may have 3-5 flavors available at one given time. We add seasonal flavors as often as we can, but below are a few of our popular empanadas that we have available daily.

Breakfast is available at 8am until sellout.

Lunch is available at 11am until sellout.

What is Beef Picadillo? This is the original empanada flavor... the OG! Basically, it is a Spanish flavored ground beef empanada. The beef has a tomato based sauce and diced veggies (onions, garlic, carrot, potato, and green olive). It's very flavorful but is NOT spicy.

Do you offer sweet empanadas? Our newest flavor is a warm Guava & Cream Cheese empanada. It is sweet, fruity, tropical, gooey, and delightful in the morning or afternoon. We don't have these out everyday but feel free to send us an email to add these on to a pre-order!

We'll be adding more sweet and savory empanadas to the menu, soon.

Upgrade your Bakehouse snacks by adding a side. Two empanadas and a side "make it a meal". Or one quiche and a side makes it a meal, too.

If you are feeding a crowd or if you want to know what flavors are available feel free to reach out to us. You can email us, call us, or DM us to find out flavors. Our pre-order menu is available 48 hours in advance. If there is a flavor that you want that isn't on our pre-order menu (ahem- Guava!) please send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate. Large empanada orders can come warm or our team members can provide baking instructions for reheating.
